Most of the surrounding area is residential in character and the site plan has been designed to minimize visual impacts from adjacent properties. The compound buildings at the perimeter of the site are pulled back from the perimeter wall creating a buffer between the Embassy site and adjacent residential properties. This configuration also allows most of the existing perimeter wall to be retained.The site is layered into several zones: public access zone, private access zone, office zones and services zone. A relatively small site, the 8,000 square meter NOB was adapted from the SED by sliding its two major elements apart to fit the site while maintaining appropriate security standards. The NOB is sited in order to accommodate the addition of an annex office building at a future date. Cladding for the NOB will be stone and stucco and will be designed to reflect elements of the rich local architecture in this area.
